Pet Owner Resources

This is a list of resources and links we thought you may find useful as a pet owner or a soon-to-be sheepadoodle adopter. We will be adding more over time, so make sure to check back!

  • Dog Food Analysis is an independent site for dog food information and reviews. What is in the most common big box store (common department stores, grocery stores, and, yes, even pet stores) pet food? You might be unpleasantly surprised! If you’d like to find out what we feed our dogs and what we recommend for your sheepadoodle puppy, check out our Proper Care & Nutrition page.
  • Tips on House Training your Puppy – Putting a lot of time in house training your puppy from the beginning is the best way to train them quickly and leave those first couple ‘accident-prone’ weeks behind for good. We also recommend this cleaner which is available from Petsmart to remove accidental stains from any surface (and prevent them from going in that same spot again).
  • Information on Crate Training – While we do not keep our own dogs in crates, you may want to look into crate training if you will be gone for long periods during the day before the sheepadoodle puppy has been trained and housebroken.
  • Grooming Information: This guide is specific to Old English Sheepdogs, but most these tips also apply to Sheepadoodles which have a similar coat. It’s great to get your sheepadoodle accustomed to grooming as early as possible so they won’t become anxious. We will begin to brush the new sheepadoodle puppies regularly and bathe them as early as 4-5 weeks.
  • Stages of Puppy Teeth – Puppies get their teeth in at around 8 weeks or so, then begin to lose them by 3 or 4 months. Their ‘big’ teeth should all be in by the time they’re 6 months old. Until then, they will feel the need to chew on things to relieve their pain. You may want to check out The Top 5 Best Chew Toys for Puppies to help you get through this period.
  • 6 Tips for Mastering the Dog Walk – It will take your sheepadoodle puppy a little time to get used to walking on a leash. These tips from Cesar Milan are a great guide to getting started.
  • Dog Goes – This is a wonderful site to help you find pet friendly stores, restaurants parks, hotels and more within the US.
